End the Embargo?

Growing numbers of south Florida's Cuban-Americans oppose U.S. restrictions on travel to Cuba, according to a poll conducted by Florida International University. Cuban-Americans who have been in the U.S. the longest take the toughest stance against the island nation's government.

  • 65% -- indicate they would support a dialogue with the Cuban government, up from 55.6% in a 2004 poll
  • 57.5% -- number of Cuban-Americans who still support the U.S. embargo
  • 55.2% -- favor "unrestricted" travel to Cuba
  • 29% -- favor lifting the embargo now
  • 8% -- favor lifting the embargo after Fidel Castro dies
